Welcome to my blog! A little bit about myself. I’m Kevin. I’m black. I’m gay. I’m human. I’m also the person who says what everyone else is thinking…usually with sharp wit and a sarcastic tone. I can usually find the humor in almost any situation…no matter how bad. Finding the humor in every day life is what keeps me from losing my mind completely.
I was born and raised in North Central Florida, the youngest of 4 boys. I’ve had the opportunity to follow my heart and have lived in various cities around the U.S. including: Atlanta (twice), Seattle, San Diego, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York. I am currently living out a life long dream of living abroad in Madrid, Spain where I am an English Teacher.
My biggest passions are travel and tennis. I’ve been to 17 countries and counting. I have a huge bucket list dream of attending all four Major tennis tournaments (US Open, Wimbledon, French Open and Australian Open). I have 3 left to go. But, beyond that, I just love everything about tennis. I love to play, watch, read about, and talk about all things tennis. I’m happiest when I can combine both loves, travel and tennis, at the same time.
I originally started this blog at the suggestion of a good friend in San Francisco. I had been out of work for over a year and he thought it could be a great way to fill my time and discover a new interest. So, after moving home to live with my parents while I figured out what I was going to do with my life, I started The Dark Rose Monologues. I’m glad I did because it has helped me to discover and foster a growing passion as a writer.
This blog is just an inside glimpse of what I think on a regular basis. Here you will find my thoughts on every day life and things that are personal to me. Sometimes it’s serious. Sometimes it’s uplifting. Most times it’s funny. But, most importantly, I hope it’s enjoyable.
